“If you build a house you start with one brick.
If
we want to build peace, why not start with one day?”
Jeremy Gilley, founder of
Peace One Day
YHA South Australia is proud to present the
annual YHA Peace Festival in Light Square, Adelaide on Sunday
17th September 2006. The festival is commemorating the United
Nations International Day of Peace (the following
Thursday 21st September) and raising awareness of "Peace
One Day".
This unique internationally supported event is now in
its fourth year with attendances projected to reach over
6000 people. Set in the heart of the CBD in Adelaide’s
west end precinct, the city will be brought to life with
a showcase of live music, dance, comedy, visual art,
children’s activities, workshops, and roving performance
as well as a spread of stall holders offering a great
range of international and local delicacies and wares.
Festivities commence at 11am until 9pm, and as always- entrance is FREE!
The Youth Hostels
Association (YHA) is a not-for-profit international
budget accommodation and travel organisation provided
mainly to promote peace, understanding and tolerance
between all people through travel, cultural exchange and
experience. Through the inspiration of the movie “Peace
One Day”, YHA has taken our mission to another level and
with the help of
Adelaide City Council,
Arts
SA and sponsors, has created a
uniquely international supported event, based right here
in Adelaide.
The program for the event this year is looking better
than ever with many of Australia’s leading musicians
expressing a keen interest in being associated with the
ideals and positive celebration of peace. This year we
have the pleasure of announcing the following performing
artists to our line-up;
